Open a project
To open an NVivo for Mac (.nvpx) project, do one of the following:
-
Choose File > Open, and then select the .nvpx project file you want to open, and then click Open.
-
On the Welcome to NVivo window, click the Open Other button and select the project, and then click Open.
NOTE If you want to open an NVivo for Windows project (.nvp) you must first convert it into the NVivo for Mac project format, (.nvpx). You can do this using the 'copy project' feature in NVivo 10 for Windows (Service Pack 5 or later). For more information, refer to the NVivo 10 for Windows Help.
Open a project you worked with recently
NVivo keeps a record of the projects you have opened recently—this makes it easier to locate and open projects that you regularly work with.
To open a project you recently opened, do one of the following:
-
Choose File > Open Recent, and then select from the list of projects you have recently opened.
-
On the Welcome to NVivo window, double-click on a project in the list of recently opened projects
You can clear the list of recently opened projects—refer to Clear the Open Recent Menu for more information.
How do I open an NVivo 10 for Windows project?
NVivo 10 for Mac projects have a different file format from those created in NVivo 10 for Windows:
-
NVivo 10 for Mac (.nvpx)
-
NVivo 10 for Windows (.nvp)
You cannot open an NVivo 10 for Windows project (.nvp) in your NVivo 10 for Mac software—you will need to convert it to the NVivo 10 for Mac format first. You can do this using the 'copy project' feature in NVivo 10 for Windows (Service Pack 5 or later). You can also export selected items to a new NVivo 10 for Mac project.
For more information on converting an NVivo 10 for Windows project, refer to the NVivo 10 for Windows Help.
Close an open project
You can close an open project, without exiting NVivo.
-
Choose File > Close.
If you have unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save your work.
Clear the Open Recent menu
The Open Recent menu provides links to projects you have recently opened. These projects are also listed on the Welcome to NVivo window that is displayed when you launch NVivo.
To clear the list of projects you recently opened:
-
Choose NVivo > Open Recent > Clear Menu.
